Travelers have spoken and the results are in. TripAdvisor has sifted through literally millions of reviews from travelers around the world to identify user favorites and name the 2014 Travelers’ Choice winners.
This year, more than 7,000 properties received recognition in categories including top hotels, small hotels, family, romance, luxury, and B&Bs and inns. While this number may seem staggering, especially compared to the typical Top 100 or 500 lists published by many travel magazines, it actually only represents less than 1% (0.94%) of the more than 748,000 accommodations listed. So it is quite an honor!
- Jamaica Inn, Ocho Rios: Top 25 Hotels in the Caribbean and Top 25 Luxury Hotels in the Caribbean
- Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, Nevis: Top 25 Hotels in the Caribbean and Top 25 Hotels for Romance in the Caribbean
- Rosalie Bay Resort, Dominica: Top 25 Small Hotels in the Caribbean
What do these properties have that you may not? Well, to start, they each have a five-star TripAdvisor rating and are at the top in their respective regions on the travel review site. Their staff is engaged and dedicated to delivering extremely high levels of customer satisfaction – so guests can’t wait to rave about the hotels to their friends, family and traveling public. And, since they work with our agency, I can confirm that each property values the importance of TripAdvisor – maximizing their visibility with a business listing and deploying a custom-tailored TripAdvisor strategy to encourage satisfied guests to write about their stay.
As I stated in my review of the TripAdvisor Top Performers in the Caribbean, love it or hate it, the quality of a hotel’s TripAdvisor reviews can have a dramatic impact on consumer opinion and revenue for a property.
In commenting about the awards, Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor, stated, “We’re excited to recognize the world’s best properties, based on the opinions of those who know them best – the millions of travelers around the globe who come to TripAdvisor to share their experiences. For those seeking inspiration for their 2014 travel planning, this list of spectacular accommodations that received 2014 Travelers’ Choice awards is a perfect place to start.”
You can rest assured travelers will be taking note of who received awards – and who did not – when they make their travel plans for 2014.
If you were not recognized on this year’s list, maybe it’s time to start taking TripAdvisor more seriously, enhancing the quality of vacation experience at your property, and strengthening the relationships with your guests.
